Thank you Madam President,

We urge the Human Rights Council to convince the German authorities to effectively enter into dialogue with the Church of Scientology, and abolish the ongoing discriminatory and condemned measures, known as “sect filters”, which are being imposed, promoted and condoned at local, state and federal level, in violation of human rights standards and human dignity of individual members of the Church of Scientology.

These documented violations are causing a worsening of their social, civil, political, labor, and cultural rights and wellbeing, including the suffering of children and youth.

The German authorities must stop at once the violations of human dignity of Scientologists in Germany.

We call on the Human Rights Council to ensure the protection of the human rights of the Scientology community. Thank you.

45th regular session of the Human Rights Council – Item 4 – General Debate – 25th September 2020 (see VIDEO)

Thank you Madam President

With the aim of contributing to implementing the UDHR, we invite Germany to celebrate this week the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Church of Scientology in their country, and so stop all discrimination and violations of Freedom of Religion or Belief by the authorities against Scientologists.

Over the past three decades, dozens of German courts have condemned the actions of the government against Scientologists at different levels and recognized their rights as per Article 4 of the Constitution.

However, despite the decisions of their judicial powers, for practically 50 years the German executive powers continue to ignore these decisions, and have violated, and still violates today, the rights of this religious minority.

Challenged on the above by the Special Mandates on FoRB and Minority issues, Germany presents information that willfully ignores the provided evidence. We inform Germany that the Independence of Powers does not mean ignoring and ostracizing judicial decisions.

In view of the seriousness of the situation and the lasting violations, we urge the Human Rights Council to launch an investigation on the issue to put and end to the discrimination against the members in Germany of this worldwide recognized minority religion.

Thank you.
